With the popularity of “Cool Roofs” in the industry, it is natural that roofing manufacturers who sell dark-colored roofs will try to discredit cool roofing benefits. This presentation looks at some of the cool roofing arguments and helps to distinguish fact from fiction.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this program, participants will be able to identify key sustainability attributes of roofing systems such as:
- Understanding the concept of “cool roofing” and how they function, are defined, and qualified in various energy and environmental codes and standards
- Assess the potential environmental impacts of broad implementation of cool roofing strategies
- Evaluate the energy benefits of cool roofing materials in northern climates
- Review the performance of some cool roofing materials in practice over the past decades.
